Awards Ceremony - June 6, 2026

On June 6, 2026, the 2026 ECO Champions Awards Ceremony took place at the Merrickville Community Centre. Over 50 local youth and the whole of École catholique Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys submitted projects on our local species at risk.  Many of the projects won medals and special recognition prizes went to the members of the Merrickville Beavers/Cubs/Scouts for their species identification trail signs project.

Congratulations to all our ECO Champions award winners.  The judges -  , Stewart Hamill, Laura Kingsbury, and Laura Maskell - were excited to see how much our participants learned about local species-at-risk.  

 

 

Mayor Cameron and Lions Club President Terry Gilhen were on hand to present the awards, along with judge & MC Andrea Howard.  Thank you to the Merrickville Lions Club championing the ECO-Champions Contest as one of their projects, and especially Lions Vic Weatherall and Jeff Swan for taking leadership roles on the steering committee.
